is head of the Department of Biomechanics, Kinesiology and Applied Computer Science and head of the Institute of Sport Science at the University of Vienna. He received the engineering diploma in Computer Science in 1984 and the doctor’s degree (Thesis: “Variance-reducing techniques for simulation methods in system reliability analysis”) in 1986 from the Technical University Vienna. In 1998 he received the habilitation in “Applied Computer Science in Biomechanics and Kinesiology” from the University of Vienna. From 2002 to 2008 he was associate professor at the Department of Biomechanics, Kinesiology and Applied Computer Science. Since 2008 he is full professor at this department. Main objective of the department´s activities is to analyse biological and mechanical aspects of human motion under different viewpoints in and beyond the field of sport and human movement.
